NEW DATES ANNOUNCED FOR ABC Round 4
**Stanford University: April 24th & May 1st**
Two-day class, consecutive Saturdays: 10am to 4 pm
In 2006, Scott Sigler and Seth Harwood were unknown authors. With overflowing files of rejection letters from agents, editors, magazines and journals, they both took it upon themselves to build their own audiences online through podcasting, social networking and free serialized audiobooks.
Flash-forward two years later, and both authors reached bestseller status on Amazon, have publishing deals with Crown/Random House and an army of online fans who are happy to help with grass-roots marketing efforts.
Now Scott & Seth want to share their method for building an audience before you approach publishers and agents. If you can show that your work has fans, fans that will buy your books, it changes the game and elevates you in the eyes of publishers.
WHAT YOU'LL GET
In this class, Seth and Scott will show you how they did it in simple step-by-step format. You bring your laptop to the class and you'll leave fully up and ready to start recording and distributing your own audiobook podcast. You'll have your own RSS blog with distribution explained, an iTunes feed, an account with LibSyn set for hosting your episodes, and you'll have started your first recording--with an awareness of how to fully edit it!
Add to this a series of profiles on today's most popular social networking sites and from there, the tools are clear, the goals are obvious, and the hard work ... is in your hands.
ARE YOU SICK OF THE RUNAROUND?
- Tired of publishing interns and readers-for-hire deciding your book "doesn't have what it takes" before it even reaches a real editor?
- Fed up with waiting for agent responses?
- Magazines sending you form rejections?
- Tired of sticking SASE's and chapters into 8.5" x 11" mailers?
- It's time to take control: show the critics that they are wrong, that you know best what kind of content will resonate with your audience.
HARD TIMES IN THE WORLD OF PUBLISHING:
Layoffs, closing book stores, chains folding, poor sales -- the publishing industry is in a downturn. That means fewer new authors get signed. Don't be mad at the publishers -- it's expensive to publish and market a book, and most books do not make money. You need to be a partner to your publisher and develop your own audience. The days of sitting in your ivory author tower are over -- you have to work hard to build that audience and earn a publishing deal.
In this class you'll get all of the tools you need to do it, full instructions on how to use them, and an on-going forum of expertise to guide you and answer your questions as you go forward on your own.
This class can show you how to elevate yourself to the top of the pile -- it's time for your Author Boot Camp!
